AIRIS Lab Attends the 2025 Fall Joint Meeting of Acoustical Society of Korea(ASK) and Korean Society for Music Perception and Cognition(KSMPC) at Yeosu

From November 19th to 21st, the entire AIRIS Lab, accompanied by our distinguished guest Dr. William Martens, traveled to the beautiful city of Yeosu to attend the 2025 Fall Joint Meeting of the Acoustical Society of Korea (ASK) and the Korean Society for Music Perception and Cognition (KSMPC).

This year’s conference was particularly meaningful as it marked the final year of Professor Sungyoung Kim’s tenure as the Chairman of the KSMPC, a role in which he led the event with great success.

A major highlight of the conference was the special session titled “AI와 음향: 미래를 디자인하는 소리” (AI and Acoustics: Sounds Designing the Future). Many of our lab members took the podium to present the fruits of their hard work and research over the past year.

The presentations were met with great enthusiasm, with many audience members showing keen interest in the diverse research being conducted at AIRIS Lab.

A special congratulations goes to Minjae Kim (MS), who received the Best Student Presentation Award (학생 우수 발표상)!

Moreover, we are proud of our presenters who shared their research during the conference:

  • PhD Students: Rai Sato, Pooseung Koh, Kirak Kim, Jongho Lee, Akira Takeuchi
  • MS Students: Kangeun Lee, Minjae Kim
  • Researcher: Sungjoon Kim

Beyond the podium, the conference provided excellent networking opportunities. It was also a valuable educational experience for our new Master’s students, giving them a live, hands-on understanding of how academic conferences are prepared and conducted.

It was a fantastic visit to Yeosu. While AIRIS Lab maintains a strong focus on international research, we recognize the vital importance of maintaining and strengthening our domestic ties. We look forward to continuing our active participation in KSMPC and ASK in the years to come.
