Another new toy – DSI-24 (Dry wireless EEG)

AIRIS RIT team had a chance to use and test the DSI-24 from Wearable Sensing on Jan 24th 2023. Cameron from the company flew all the way from San Diego kindly enough to educate how to use the device and customize for the lab’s need.

Originally suggested by Dr. Inyong Choi , the device is expected to serve for our one research focus – wireless EEG data acquisition for non-laboratory situation and corresponding evaluation of in-home auditory training for normal and hard-of-hearing listeners.

Previously, we tried an OpenBCI system. However, the signal quality and reliability is not quite satisfactory to meet our needs.

Led by Dr. Hwan Shim (our RIT lab’s new faculty collaborator), our team will find way to best utilize this new wireless dry EEG system, which will open a possibility as a clinical assistant device for various people who need a better understanding of the mechanism of speech understanding in noise (SiN), a.k.a, cocktail party effect.
