From December 4th to 8th, Professor Sungyoung Kim and student Sato Rai participated in the Acoustics 23 Sydney conference organized by the Acoustic Society of America, held in Sydney, Australia.
The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) is the premier international acoustical society dedicated to generate, disseminate, and promote the knowledge and practical applications of acoustics.
This year’s ASA conference was a joint meeting with the Australian Acoustical Society, spanning a total of five days in Sydney. It featured numerous exhibitions and served as a gathering place for acoustical researchers and students from around the world.
At this event, our laboratory made the following three presentations:
Oral Presentations:
- 4pCAa4. Room-aware portable Auditory Augmented Reality: Real-time spatial audio generation with geometric data analysis.
Presented by Rai Sato (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), Yuto Izumi (Kyoto University), and Sungyoung Kim (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). - 3aAA4. Sound environment control using an immersive audio system—Advancing sound experience for creators and listeners using Active Field Control.
Presented by Dai Hashimoto (Spatial Audio Group, Yamaha Corporation), Hideo Miyazaki (Spatial Audio Group, Yamaha Corporation), Ron Bakker (Yamaha Music Europe GmbH), and Sungyoung Kim (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
Poster Presentation:
- 3pPPa9. Measuring listeners’ distraction to spatially presented masking noise conditions.
Presented by Akira Takeuchi (Rochester Institute of Technology), Hwan Shim (Rochester Institute of Technology), Inyong Choi (University of Iowa), and Sungyoung Kim (Rochester Institute of Technology).
Additionally, Professor Sungyoung Kim, along with his long-term collaborator Professor Sakamoto from Tohoku University, visited the laboratories of Professors Densil Cabrera and Professor Craig Jin at the University of Sydney. They had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge architectural acoustics and acoustic display technology.
