카이스트 문화기술대학원의 세 연구실 AIRIS – MAC – MuBL, 그리고 전기전자공학부의 Smart Sound Lab 이 2025 년 11 월 25 일 요코하마에 위치한 야마하 미나토미라이에 방문하여 협동 워크샵을 진행하였다.
야마하-KAIST 협동 워크샵은 매해 일본과 한국에서 번갈아가며 진행되는 연례 행사로, 올해로 세번째인 금번 워크샵은 2 년 전 KAIST 구성원들이 야마하 하마마츠 본사를 방문한 것 처럼 요코하마에 위치한 야마하 미나토미라이 심포스테이지에서 함께하였다.
약 4시간 동안 진행된 워크샵에서는 KAIST 측 각 연구실 별 대표 연구 성과를 발표함과 동시에, 야마하측에서의 연구 동향을 함께 공유하는자리를가졌다.
AIRIS 연구실을 대표로 김민재 석사 과정이 교차모달 잔항 생성이라는 본인의 연구 주제를 Al 에이전트 기반 삼차원 오디오 재생이라는 큰 틀의 사례로 들어 발표를 진행하였다.
발표 일정 이후 자유 토의 세션과 저녁 식사 시간을 가지며 발표 간 미처 나누지 못한 각자의 연구에 대한 제안 사항과 연구 방향성을 자유롭게 주고받았으며, 협력 연구에 대한 가능성을 폭 넓게 논의하였다.
지난 3 년간의 교류를 통해 KAIST와 Yamaha 간 연구 주제를 공유하는 수준을 넘어, KAIST 석-박사 과정의 글로벌 인턴십 기회를 마련하는 현장으로써 협동 워크샵이 두 기관의 연구 전문성을 제고하는 발판이 되어주고 있음을 다시 한번 확인하였다.

On November 25, 2025, KAIST’s Culture Technology Graduate School laboratories — AIRIS Lab, MAC Lab, and MuBL — together with the School of Electrical Engineering’s Smart Sound Lab visited Yamaha Minatomirai in Yokohama to hold a collaborative workshop.
The Yamaha–KAIST Joint Workshop is an annual event held alternately in Japan and Korea. Marking its third year, this year’s workshop took place at Yamaha Minatomirai SympoStage in Yokohama, echoing KAIST researchers’ visit to Yamaha’s Hamamatsu headquarters two years prior.
Over the workshop, representatives from each KAIST lab presented their key research achievements, while the Yamaha research team shared updates on their ongoing projects and technological directions.
Representing the AIRIS Lab, Master’s student Minjae Kim delivered a presentation on cross-modal reverberation synthesis, contextualizing his research within the broader framework of AI-agent-based 3D audio reproduction.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in an open discussion session and shared a group dinner, offering an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss research proposals that had not been fully addressed during the talks, and broadly explore possibilities for collaborative research.
Over the past three years, this joint workshop has evolved beyond a simple exchange of research themes. It has now become a platform for establishing global internship opportunities for KAIST Master’s and PhD students within Yamaha. Once again, the event demonstrated its role as a key foundation for strengthening research expertise and cooperation between the two institutions.
