From January 9th to 15th, I conducted measurements of experimental stimuli using the anechoic chamber at Tohoku University.
Our laboratory has been researching how music listening in a binaural format differs in perception and preference across different listener groups. This visit served as an additional recording to stimuli previously recorded by our professor in the same location, aiming to gather more detailed experimental stimuli for future research development.
Thanks to Tohoku University’s large-scale anechoic chamber, the recording process went very smoothly, laying the groundwork for new experiments.

Tohoku University Visit and Experiment
I got the opportunity to conduct the experiment for a month at Tohoku University to expand the participants of my EEG measurement for the Speech-in-Noise task with the great help of Professor Sakamoto and his students. The experiment location, Sicho-situ (visual and auditory perception room, in Japanese) was quite a nice room to simulate a more practical listening situation.
On the final day of the visit, the students in prof. Sakamoto’s Lab hosted our farewell party, I could really enjoy socializing with young researchers and Japanese Sake!
Aizu University Visit – Onkyo Winter Camp
Thanks to Dr. JULIAN Alberto Villegas Orozco and Dr. Michael Cohen I had a nice workshop named ‘Onkyo Winter Camp’. Since Aizu University is especially good at computer sciences, I could be impressed a lot about audio-related computing techniques.
After the workshop, Camilo, one of the students supervised by Dr. Villegas, took Sean (PhD student from KAIST) and me on a sightseeing drive around the Aizu area. Since Aizu is famous for Samurai houses and their cultures, we had a really nice time learning and feeling the atmosphere of Japanese traditions.
